Short - Sighted Populism: The Enemy Of A Quality FUTURE!

Short - Sighted Populism: The Enemy Of A Quality FUTURE!

Expert Author Richard Brody
short - sighted populism
Observers of comparative, political systems, in use, in a variety of free nations, should indicate, we spend more time, and money, in our election process, than nearly every other nation! While, elsewhere, this period rarely exceeds about 90 days, in the United States, the cycle, often, is close to two years. We also have far fewer restrictions, in terms of spending (both, the amount allowed. and other restrictions), than the rest of the so - called, free world. Some might say, this permits us, to become far more familiar with our candidates, yet, the reality, seems, it only provides a well - crafted, narrative, which provides little useful information, etc. In the vast majority of cases, candidates, merely, articulate many empty promises, and rhetoric, instead of meaningful information, and purpose. Voters, in the vast majority of instances, elected candidates, based on short - term, populist promises and rhetoric, rather than their qualifications, integrity, ideas, and/ or, viable solutions. With that in mind, this article will attempt to consider, review, examine, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why short - term populism, is, generally, the enemy of a quality FUTURE.
1. Furnish; fruition; fulfill; faithful; freedom: Shouldn't we demand, elected officials, fulfill their promises, in a faithful, focused manner? If the priority/ priorities, fails to be based, on enhancing our freedoms, and furnish, the finest ideas and sustainable solutions, we may be sacrificing the future, for the sake of a short - term, gratification/ satisfaction!
2. Usual; unusual: We may be at, one of the most pivotal periods, in our history, where we need leaders, who will reach beyond the usual, same - old, same - old., ways, and, exhibit the strength of character, to proceed, in the somewhat, unusual manner, of aligning relevant, present actions, with creating a sustainable future!
3. Timely; trends; true: We could, probably, count the number of honorable public officials, with genuine integrity, and ethics, who focus on the common good, rather than their personal/ political agenda, and self - interest, on one - hand! Political fact - checkers, in fact, state, President Trump, has made over 6 misstatements (or worse), per day, instead of be honest and truthful! Trump's, Make America Great Again, appears to be the antithesis, of understanding, and recognizing relevant trends, and taking advantage of the finest opportunities, in a properly focused, timely manner!
4. Urge; urgent; useful: Providing useful direction, should be a leader's priority! We will continue, to lose essential opportunities, until/ unless, we elect individuals, willing to urge us, to do, what's right and best, rather than expedient! A great public official, addresses urgent needs, in a well - considered, way!
5. Relevant; rationale; realistic; righteous: With all the time, we spend on the campaign season, we appear to still, be unable to select, righteous individuals, who prioritize the public good, rather than their personal/ political agendas, and self - interest! Shouldn't their actions and strategies, emphasize relevant, realistic needs, in a realistic way?
6. Empathy; emphasis; excellence; endurance; energy: Observe whether a candidate, is ready, willing, and able, to effectively listen, and learn from every conversation, and experience, and proceed, with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! The emphasis must be on electing individuals, with personal energy, who can energize others, and the endurance, to prioritize, the utmost dedication to personal excellence!
Wake up, America, before it's too late, to ensure a sustainable future, for the best - interests of future generations! Will you overlook the promises, and empty rhetoric, and demand plans of action, towards a viable solution?

Critical Thinking: Why Are So Many People Obsessed With Celebrities?

Critical Thinking: Why Are So Many People Obsessed With Celebrities?

Expert Author Oliver JR Cooper
It could be said that there have more or less always been people who are famous for one thing or another, but what is different about today's world, is that it is easier than ever before for someone to achieve this aim. There are two main reasons for this, with the first being reality TV and the second being the internet.
Thanks to former, someone can end up become famous practically overnight, and this can take place even if they have very little, if any, talent. When it comes to the latter, the same thing can occur without too much time passing and without one needing to have any kind of talent.
A Life Goal
One outcome of this is that so many people now see fame as the ultimate achievement, something that is far superior to anything else that can be attained. What this shows is how fame has saturated the western world.
For someone like this, fame is not going to be a something that is simply a by-product of doing something else; it will be something that is pursued directly. As a result of this, they might not care what they do as long as this takes place.
Another Part
If someone experiences life in this way, it is also likely to mean that they look up to certain celebrities. Then again, they could admire just about anyone who is famous, due to the fact that this person will have attained something that they themselves desire.
When it comes to the celebrities that they follow, then, these could be actors and/or singers, or they could be famous for other things. If they don't care about what someone does, the mere fact that another person is famous could be enough to pull them in.
A Big Shift
Someone like this is then not going to be interested in what they can do to make the world a better place; they will only be interested in doing what they can to be known by as many people as possible. Its then as if one sees themselves as being separate for everything else as opposed to being part of it.
One is then on this planet but there is no need for them to make a contribution to the planet while they are here. The only thing that they need to do is to receive attention from others and that will be enough.
Undeveloped
One way of looking at this would be to say that the only reason someone would want to be famous is because their needs were not met during early years. Consequently, one is likely to feel insignificant, worthless and invisible, amongst other things.
Being famous is then going to be a way for them to recreate their early years; only this time, they will be able to get what they didn't get all those years ago. The trouble is that they are likely to be carrying trauma, which will stop them from being able to internalise positive feedback from others.
A Futile Pursuit
It will be a bit like trying to permanently mark a window by using milk, it will just wash off. No matter how much positive feedback they receive from other people, it won't have a lasting effect.
What someone like this really needs to do is to heal their inner wounds as this will gradually allow them to feel whole and complete. Through doing this they will no longer feel the same way and this will mean that they will no longer have the same needs.
Self-Acknowledgment
By no longer feeling so empty on the inside, they will no longer need the approval from random strangers to feel whole. The fullness that they feel within themselves will also most likely allow them to focus more on what they can give to the world, than on what they can get from it.
Taking this into account, it shows how important early care is when it comes to having a functional society. What someone doesn't receive during this stage of their life can be what they will look for as an adult, with this typically being something that takes place unconsciously.
Another Scenario
If one is more interested is following different celebrities than they are with being famous, it can show that they live their life through these people. By identifying with them, it is going to have a positive effect on how they feel and see themselves.
And, although these people will be their fellow human beings, it can be as though these people are above them. Said another way, these people can be like gods and goddesses.
Projection
What this can show is that deep down, one feels worthless and this has then caused them to see these people as being perfect. Indentifying with what they have projected into these people will be a way for them to avoid their true feelings.
If they were to detach themselves from them, they might soon end up coming into contact with how they really feel. Thus, being obsessed with different celebrities will be way for them to avoid themselves.
Conclusion
One way to look at the obsession that so many people have when it comes to celebrities would be to say that this shows that there are a lot of people who feel worthless or as though they are nothing. If these people were to work through their own wounds and were gradually able to embrace their own worth in the process, there would be no reason for them to put their fellow human beings on a pedestal.
Focusing on their own life and doing what they could to achieve their own goals would be far more important. Not only would this allow them to lead a more fulfilling existence, it would also most likely allow them to make a positive contribution to the world.

Critical Thinking: Does The Government Create Problems To Justify Its Own Existence?

Critical Thinking: Does The Government Create Problems To Justify Its Own Existence?
Expert Author Oliver JR Cooper
It can be normal for one to assume that the government is there to make their life easier. Whether it relates to their own safety, happiness or health, this entity is there to make sure that they are looked after.
Thus, even if one is not religious, they will have something out there that is watching over them, so to speak. As a result of this, one may find that it is easier for them to settle down and to get on with their own life.
One Part
If one is no longer in the education system, they could look back on this time in their life with great pleasure. This will then have been a time when they were given the tools that they needed to handle the world as an adult.
There may have been parts that they didn't like, but overall, it would have been a valuable experience. They may believe that their life would be radically different if it wasn't for this education.
Another Part
What could also come to mind is what the police, army and intelligence services do to combat crime and terrorism. These different agencies are then going to be doing their best to keep them, and their loved ones, safe from harm.
There will be what they deal with in their country and in other countries around the world. But regardless of what country these organisations are operating in, the purpose will be the same - to look after them and their fellow citizens.
A Priority
And, due to the amount of terrorist attacks that have taken place in recent years, one could believe that these types of people are more important than ever before. It could seem as though there are more threats out there than ever before, which is why more protection than ever before is needed.
One may be only too happy for their way of life to change if it means that they will be safer. More cameras, laws and rules, yet less privacy and freedom are then going to be something that is perfectly acceptable.
A Mad World
If one was asked to share their thoughts on terrorism, they could say that the people who are involved are animals who want to cause harm. For no reason, then, they will want to cause chaos and destruction.
As far as they are concerned, the sooner these people are dealt with the better it will be for anyone who values life. These perpetrators will need to be dealt with, so that they can no longer victimise others.
Two Levels
In the same way that a business can have two purposes, with their being the official purpose and the unofficial purpose, a government can also be the same. When it comes to a business, the official purpose can be to sell food and the unofficial purpose can be to launder money.
On the other hand, when it comes to a government, the official purpose can be to look after its citizens, while the unofficial purpose can be to control them. Therefore, just like a normal business, it can appear to be legitimate, but this is nothing more than a facade.
The Perfect Disguise
There are a number of reasons as to why this entity has been able to maintain this illusion for so long. Firstly, there is how it presents itself, secondly, there is the conditioning that the citizenry receive during their time in the education system and, thirdly, there is the part that the mainstream media play.
When it comes to the first point, the people who represent the government are often very good at coming across as decent human beings. These people often speak and dress well, for instance.
The Other Points
As for the second point, the education system teaches people what to think, not how to think. What this then does is defines how so many people see the world, taking away their ability to think critically and to see through this illusion.
The mainstream media is then there to make sure that populace don't wake up and continue to see the world in a certain way. In other words, the education system gets the ball moving, but the mainstream media keep it going.
In A Trance
Someone's mind is then programmed from day one and this programming ends up defining what they can or can't see. And, if someone points out that what they believe has very little basis in reality, it can be as though they are saying that grass is red.
The person who points this out is then the mad one or the conspiracy nut that should be in some kind of mental institution. Unlike this person, one will be in the know and have their feet planted firmly on the ground.
Reading between the Lines
So, what is rarely spoken about is how the government actually puts its citizen's safety and security at risk. One of the ways that this takes place by attacking countries that are not a threat, which gives people from these countries the desire to seek revenge.
Now, the government and their mouth piece, the mainstream media, may come up with reasons why a country needs to be attacked, but the reasons put forward are almost always lies. Ultimately, this entity will do anything to achieve its aims, and lying to the citizenry is just a means to an end.
Out of Balance
It has been said that the government should be scared of the people, not the other way around. The trouble is that in many countries around the world, it is often the other way around.
This entities priority is then to do whatever it can to keep the citizenry weak, fearful and dependent, even though it creates the impression that it is there to help people. Keeping people in this state is the perfect way to control them and to make sure that they don't get in the way of their plans
Conclusion
In recent years, the divide and rule tactic has been heavily applied, with the establishment doing just about everything they can do create tension between men and women and different races. One way to look at this would be to imagine that the government is like a hand that continually shakes a snow globe, making sure that the globe is never settled.

Keeping people in a constant state of angst keeps them in fear and stops them from being able to think clearly or putting up any resistance. On the plus side, more and more people are becoming aware of what is going on.

Real Facts, Fake Facts, Lies, Misstatements, Exaggerations?

Real Facts, Fake Facts, Lies, Misstatements, Exaggerations?

Expert Author Richard Brody
Most people, regardless of their political beliefs, and/ or affiliations, agree, we are currently witnessing, the most polarization, in recent memory! Supporters of the President, especially his core supporters and followers, often, proclaim, anything which disagrees with, or, even, questions Mr. Trump, is fake news. They follow the leadership of the man, who constantly calls the mainstream media, fake, false, and, even, the enemy of the people. There have been many reports, that Trump spends a disproportionate amount of his day, watching news reports, from, the media, which he aligns with. He has stated, he doubted his hand - picked, intelligence leaders, and, has, often, aligned his statements, closer to Putin's, than with these individuals. Because of how widely, this President, fails to appear to tell the truth, many media organizations, have started to fact - check, nearly, everything, he says. Although Trump, and his strongest followers, proclaim, the President tells the truth, and others, lie, the real facts, appear to disagree with Trump's version. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, the differences, and some examples, of real facts, fake facts, fake news, lies, misstatements, and exaggerations.
1. Exaggerations: It is common, for politicians, to exaggerate, and slant the so - called, facts, to meet their narrative! Although, we would benefit, if elected officials, maintained more integrity and ethics, there is a big difference between this behavior, and outright, lying!
2. Misstatements: Humans are not perfect, and, thus, from time, to time, even, well - intentioned individuals, misstate the facts. Sometimes, it is carelessness, while at others, it's an attempt to favorably spin, the facts, to advance their personal/ public agenda, and/ or, self - interest.
3. Lies: When misstatements, become the norm, the result is lying! When a public official, doubles - down, on those lies, and attacks anyone who exposes him, it creates an adversarial, polarizing, atmosphere, which hurts our nation!
4. Fake Facts/ Fake News: President Trump, often, refers to the media, as Fake News, while, it, points to, his misstatements, and lies, as Fake Facts. Independent political fact - checkers, have claimed, this President, tells over 6 lies, per day. Simply because you don't agree, doesn't make something, fake!
5. Real facts: Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but, not, his own set of facts! Reality isn't always, something, you agree with, but, the best approach, is identifying, strengths, weaknesses, needs, perceptions, goals, and priorities, and proceeding with an open - mind, and a positive, can - do, attitude, towards a viable, sustainable, relevant, solution!
Isn't it about time, we elected people, based on qualifications, priorities, experience, expertise, and character, rather than, on popularity, or empty promises, and rhetoric? Wake up, America, before we lose, the basic freedoms, liberties, and justices, for all!

Family: Wisconsin teen in 'good spirits' post-kidnap, escape

Family: Wisconsin teen in 'good spirits' post-kidnap, escape

The grandfather of a 13-year-old northwestern Wisconsin girl who authorities say escaped a man who killed her parents and held her captive for three months said Sunday she's in "exceptionally good spirits."
Jayme Closs on Thursday fled the cabin near the small town of Gordon where she said she had been imprisoned. She approached a woman walking a dog and asked for her help.
Police officers arrested 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson minutes later based on Jayme's description of his vehicle. Authorities are holding Patterson on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide.
Little has been revealed about Jayme's ordeal since her abduction in mid-October, although more details could come Monday when Patterson is expected to be charged and make his first appearance in court.
Jayme's grandfather, Robert Naiberg, said Sunday that, considering the circumstances, the teen is holding up .
"She's doing exceptionally well for what she went through," Naiberg told The Associated Press by phone. "She's in exceptionally good spirits."
On Sunday, area churchgoers said their prayers were answered by Jayme's safe return.
"We are overjoyed and we couldn't be happier. It's a miracle and it's wonderful," Mary Haas told the Minneapolis Star Tribune while taking down Christmas decorations after Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Barron. "We prayed and prayed and prayed."
Jayme has been staying with an aunt in Barron since she escaped.
"It's a great day up in our area," said Larry Leff at St. Peter's Catholic Church in nearby Cameron. "God answered all our prayers."
An intruder blasted open the door of James and Denise Closs' home near Barron with a shotgun Oct. 15, gunned the couple down and made off with Jayme.
While investigators have said Patterson's goal was to kidnap Jayme, he has no apparent prior connection to the family. Naiberg told the AP on Saturday that Jayme told FBI agents she did not know Patterson.
Patterson attorneys Charles Glynn and Richard Jones said in a statement that they consider the situation "very tragic" and that they are relying on the court system to treat their client fairly.
Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told reporters on Friday that Patterson took measures to avoid leaving evidence at the Closs family's home, including shaving his head before breaking in. A shotgun was recovered from the cabin, which Patterson's father owned.

Jayme Closs abduction suspect was a quiet student who hoped to join Marines

Jayme Closs abduction suspect was a quiet student who hoped to join Marines

GORDON, Wis. – Jake Thomas Patterson remains a mystery.
At Northwood School District in Minong, where he graduated from the K-12 school in 2015, Patterson was quiet and withdrawn, yet smart enough to be on a quiz team and able to crack a quick joke.
In the school's yearbook, he said that after graduation he planned to enlist in the Marine Corps. and wrote, "I'm finally done with school."
It's not clear whether Patterson ever followed through on joining the military. He did work, for just one day, at a turkey plant, and he appears to have drifted in the background in this rural swath of Wisconsin. He did not have a criminal record.
The blanks in Patterson's story will fill in over the coming weeks and months as he faces charges of killing Denise and James Closs and kidnapping their 13-year-old daughter, Jayme.
On Thursday, 88 days after she was abducted, Jayme escaped from a home in Gordon where authorities said she was kept by Patterson. Sheriff's deputies quickly apprehended Patterson, who they believe was out driving and looking for Jayme. He surrendered without incident.
Jayme is now staying with an aunt, who said in a Facebook post that the teen had a "pretty good" night's sleep and that her family would support her throughout her healing process.
"It will be a long road, but we are family strong and we love this little girl so much!!" she said.
Patterson, 21, is due to make his initial court appearance Monday in Barron. Authorities have said he acted alone, using a shotgun to blast his way into the Closs home. He was targeting Jayme, they said.
"We don't think there are any other suspects who helped him with this plan and ... kidnapping," Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said Saturday.
Patterson will be represented by state public defenders Charles Glynn and Richard Jones, with assistance of the Public Defender's Office in Barron County.
"This is a very tragic situation," Glynn and Jones said in a statement issued late Friday. "There is a substantial amount of information, interest, and emotion involved in this case. Mr. Patterson’s legal team will be relying on the integrity of our judicial system to insure that everyone’s rights are protected and respected."
Patterson graduated from high school in a class of 34 students. A description of his high school years was provided by former students who didn't want to be named.
Classmates described him as quiet and seemingly indifferent.
"He was just kind of there," said one former student.
Patterson was voted as the "most quiet" boy in the class of 2015.
"Randomly in class, Jake would crack a joke and it would be absolutely hilarious and the whole class would hear it," the classmate said.
Another former student, who was a year behind Patterson, said, "He seemed like he was just one of those guys in school that wanted to fit in but couldn't because he lacked social skills. (He) never really made an impact in any way."
Patterson wrestled in elementary school, a classmate said, but wasn't interested in going to sporting events in high school.
He was a member of the school's Quiz Bowl team, a club described by Northwood School Superintendent Jean Serum as "a battle of the brainiacs" competition between schools.
In his freshman yearbook picture, he had tousled hair and a shy smile. He shaved his hair close sometime between the end of his sophomore year and the beginning of his junior year.
Jayme Closs smiles with the family pets at her aunt's home Saturday, two days after escaping from a cabin in Gordon in Douglas County. Authorities say Jayme was kidnapped 88 days ago when her parents were murdered in her Barron home.
In many ways, he was known by what he didn't do.
He didn't go to prom and didn't go on the senior class trip to Florida. He didn't pose with fellow graduates in the class photo. Classmates said they don't recall him participating in the ceremony.
"Which pretty much sums up, he was just there," a classmate said.
His home life remains unclear. Patterson's parents divorced in 2007. Patterson has an older brother and sister. His older brother has a criminal record, including a no contest plea to a fourth-degree sexual assault charge in 2013. The older brother was sentenced to a year's probation.
The only job that Patterson was known to have held was at Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron. He worked there three years ago but quit after one day. Jayme's parents worked at the company for 27 years but authorities have said it's not believed they crossed paths with Patterson on the job.
"How did he get like this?" a classmate asked. "He just disappeared after high school."
USA TODAY-Wisconsin Network photographer T'xer Zhon Kha contributed to this report.
This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Jayme Closs abduction suspect was a quiet student who hoped to join Marines
